The Truth of the Cross would be great reading this month, as we perhaps spend even more time reflecting on what Christ has done for us on the cross.

Dr. Wayne Grudem teaching his Systematic Theology (the best IMO) is available on mp3 CDs – 119 classes – for FREE from Monergism (just pay postage.) We use his book for our teens. This will be a great addition to that course.
The Christian church has a long tradition of systematic theology, that is, studying theology and doctrine organized around fairly standard categories such as the Word of God, redemption, and Jesus Christ. This introduction to systematic theology has several distinctive features:
– A strong emphasis on the scriptural basis for each doctrine and teaching
– Clarity, with technical terms kept to a minimum
– A contemporary approach, treating subjects of special interest to the church today
– A friendly tone, appealing to the emotions and the spirit as well as the intellect
– Frequent application to life
Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow.
And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
“[Why do you seek the living among the dead?] He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, …”
And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”
Rejoice! He is alive!
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
When morning came, all the chief priests and elder of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death…. And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, Place of the Skull, …they crucified Him. …
Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, My God, My God, why have Your forsaken Me?” …
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice [“It is finished.” “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.”] and yielded up His spirit [breathed His last]. …
Then behold the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth quaked and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised. …
“Truly this was the Son of God!” …
Now when evening had come, … Joseph [of Arimathea] had taken the body [of Jesus], he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed. …
Today could have been the worst day on earth. But…
Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in Yahweh his God: which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever… Yahweh shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye Yahweh! ~ Psalm 146: 5-6, 10
1 Rejoice in Yahweh, O righteous ones; praise is becoming for the upright.
2 Praise Yahweh with lyre; sing to Him with a harp of ten strings.
3 Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with shouts of joy.
4 For the word of Yahweh is right; and all His works are in truth.
5 He loves righteousness and judgment; the earth is full of the mercy of Yahweh.
6 By the word of Yahweh were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
7 He gathered the waters of the sea like a heap, setting the depths in storehouses.
8 Let all the earth fear Yahweh; let all the people of the world stand in awe of Him.
9 For He spoke, and it was done ; He commanded, and it stood.
35 It was shown to you so that you might know that Yahweh is God, and no one else beside Him.
