The Bible Tells Me So

Yes, the Bible is the standard of authority. There is no other authority for Truth that supercede's the Word of God. It is inerrant, infallable, inspired and sufficient.

But more than all these analytical Truths, the Bible is Living. It is the Word of God and it is powerful. It is not a dead dry compilation of stories and rules. It is Life. It not only shows us the way in which we are to walk, it changes our lives, enabling us to walk in those ways.

To those whose hearts God has not converted, His Word is simply stupid, just a dead, dry, boring book of rules and stories. In the "wisdom" of man(kind) (that is, all humans), God's ways are just plain foolish. But God's wisdom is far above that of man's, for God made man and knows him far better than he knows himself. As man's Creator, He knows everything about man and what is best for him.

He gave man this book, a written record, to guide him through life and to salvation. It is the only authority on Who God is and what He is truly like, and who man is and what he is truly like. Yes, it tells of God's standard, and how man has not only failed to meet it, but rebelled against it (and God Himself). But, most joyously, it tells man of God's Plan and desire to restore him to relationship with His Creator. It tells of the perfect sacrifice required to pay the penalty for man's sin, to bring him back into relationship with God. It tells of the change God makes in the lives of men and women when He transforms their hearts, when He changes that heart that is at enmity with God into a heart of love for God and His Word.

Thy Word, Oh Lord, is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It is living and powerful and discerns the thoughts and intents of my heart. I've hidden it in my heart so I won't sin against You. I Love Your Word, Oh God. I will speak it and meditate on it day and night, that I might obey it. I am blessed indeed by it.
